General Questions

Why do people go to therapy?

People come to therapy for many reasons — anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, or simply wanting support through a hard season. You don’t need a crisis to benefit from it.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer individuals, couples, kids, families, and group therapy in person at our both our Chico and Sacramento locations, and virtually throughout California. Our clinicians have many diverse skills and focuses of training to meet your individual needs, including providing trauma focused, EMDR, brainspotting, PCIT, somatic, IFS, and perinatal focused therapy as well as other modalities.

What happens in a first session?

Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other — your history, what’s bringing you in, and what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, with the standard legal exceptions around safety (risk of harm to self or others, and mandated reporting). Your therapist will walk you through this in your first session.

Do you provide virtual sessions?

Yes, we do!

Where are your offices located?

We have offices in Chico and Sacramento and offer virtual therapy options throughout California.

Our Chico office is located at 1359 Lassen Avenue, Chico, CA 95973.

Our Sacramento office is located at 1321 Howe Ave, Unit 113, Sacramento, CA 95825.

Do you have a cancellation fee? What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Notice can be provided via phone, email, or text message.  This allows us to offer the time to another client who may be waiting for care. A “Late Cancellation” is defined as any appointment that is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice.

If you miss or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice on three (3) occasions, you may be removed from your therapist’s calendar to ensure availability for clients who are able to attend regularly.

The late cancellation fee is $100. This fee is not covered by insurance and is your responsibility as the client.  Some exceptions may apply based on your insurance plan. Please consult with your therapist if you have questions about coverage or fees.

Do you have a no-show fee? What is the no-show policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Notice can be provided via phone, email, or text message.  This allows us to offer the time to another client who may be waiting for care. A “No-Show” is defined as a missed appointment where the client fails to arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time.

The no-show fee is $100. This fee is not covered by insurance and is your responsibility as the client.  Some exceptions may apply based on your insurance plan. Please consult with your therapist if you have questions about coverage or fees.
